Lender Buy Way knocked on Merak’s door more than twenty years ago and has never looked back since.

Facility Manager Christian Gowie was there from the start, and is therefore perfectly placed to tell us why Buy Way has been counting on Merak ever since.

As a lender, Buy Way is required by law to keep track of every credit file for ten years. When the company moved to new premises 20 years ago, the new location did not have enough space to keep track of all those files.
“I put out a call for tender and Merak came out on top,” recalls Facility Manager Christian Gowie. “Coincidentally, my colleague from IT had put out a similar call for tender during the same period, without my knowledge.
In the end, it turned out that both of us, independently of each other, chose Merak. That proves that they were the right option."

Meanwhile, Merak keeps over 14,000 boxes for Buy Way, Christian says. “We started archiving certain services, but today they keep all our paper archives which we don’t have a place for ourselves.”

Merak does more than just keep the archives, Christian explains. “We have to regularly consult certain files from our archives. Merak knows how to find them quickly, then send them to us. In urgent cases, they can even scan the files and send them directly to us digitally. It's reassuring to know we can always rely on them."

Significant advantages

This fast and accurate service is therefore a big advantage for Christian. But it's not the only one, by any means. “Our files are crucial. If we lost a box, it would be a disaster. But in those 20 years, Merak hasn't lost a single box. There are companies from different sectors in their portfolio for good reason."

Of course, the price also plays a part, Christian laughs. “If Merak was ten times more expensive than the others, I would still go for Merak. But that is not the case. On the contrary. Every five years, I put out a new call for tender. And over and over again, Merak emerges as the best candidate. Actually, no, that's not right. Once, another company offered a cheaper price per box. I almost switched. At the time, Merak reminded me that only half as many files fit in their boxes. If I had gone for them, it would have been much more expensive! So I stayed with Merak. And that's what I plan to do in the future."
