BIS|Econocom and merak, a perfect match… thanks to unforeseen circumstances

Acute lack of adequate storage space

A major project with a leading bank in Belgium brought BIS|Econocom and Merak together. The schedule for the installation of audiovisual material at the bank's headquarters and regional offices was changed. As a result, there was an acute shortage of available space to store material. This material had to be stocked according to certain quality standards. Stephan Van Gorkum: “The assignment with our client was postponed for a few months. So we had to find a solution for the audiovisual material that was taking up space in our office. The storage room had to be safe, dust- and moisture-free, and air-conditioned, because the material is very sensitive to changing atmospheric conditions and temperature differences. Moreover, we did not know exactly for how long we would need that storage room. So our storage partner had to be very flexible. That's why we quickly went to Merak."

Forward-looking collaboration

BIS|Econocom has since moved to a new location in Mechelen. The new buildings fit better with the company's activities and there is more room for storage. However, Van Gorkum says that the company will use external storage facilities even more in the future. Stephan Van Gorkum: “It's all going so fast. When we drew up the plans for the warehouse in the new building, there was no problem at all. But we soon noticed that it would not be long before we were faced with a lack of space. The material is growing and our customers are asking for more screens. We can solve this initially by having our orders delivered on demand. But with our customers' installations, we know we need to be flexible. Because there are several parties involved, which sometimes means that we cannot run the installation dust-free at the scheduled time. So I'm sure we'll be working with Merak."

Unique and comprehensive service

Quality is not the only reason Stephan van Gorkum chooses Merak. Our comprehensive service with many possibilities is also an added value for him. Stephan Van Gorkum: “Merak comes to pick up and deliver the goods. That opens up perspectives. At a later stage, we will certainly also consider the option of having Merak deliver the stored goods directly to our sites. This service is very interesting and quite unique. It would be less of a concern for our installers, because when they go to a site, they can be sure that all the materials are safe and intact."
